Capoeira Group Class
Every Tuesday 8pm – 9pm
Capoeira – the fun functional fitness workout that builds strength, stamina, flexibility and community. Being a dynamic martial art hidden within a dance, Capoeira can be an exciting workout routine that is a different and fun way to loose weight and get in shape. Some self-defense skills will be learned, but more importantly the social and emotional skills to be gleaned are powerful.
In class we will work on coordination drills, transitions, learning basic to advanced techniques, and come together at the end of each class to ‘play’; which is using the skills we learned in a one on one challenge in a Roda (‘Ho-da’). In a Roda is where we develop our community building by working together. We do that by making a safe circle & supporting the two players as they challenge on another, we make music together and cheer them on together.
Preparing for Class
This is a dynamic movement class. Please wear athletic clothing. Capoeira pants can be found online. Wrestling shoes, martial arts training shoes or athletic socks are recommended.
