Chi Gong is the practice of cultivating “Chi” (aka; Qi, Ji, Ki, or Vital Life-force Energy). In Chinese philosophy Chi is a universal energy that permeates everything and flows through the world in ways similar to how both water and electricity flows. This energy can flow as gently as the tide or crack like lightening. When moving it can bring health and vitality, but when stagnate Chi can become rotten and a cesspool that makes space for disorder and disease. Chi Gong is the understanding and cultivation of Chi as a way to experience greater levels of health and well-being and a more fully realized long life.
With Modig, students will learn how to cultivate Chi and open the body to healthy Chi flow. These practices involve gentle movements that are appropriate for all ages and body types, breathing techniques from both Chi Gong and Yoga that help to open the lungs and diaphragm to greater amounts of air and increases the body’s blood oxygen content, and meditations from both Chi Gong and Yoga that still the mind and emotions.
